Apple has announced M2, the next generation Apple Silicon chip which is designed specifically for the Mac.

Apple is using second-generation 5-nanometer technology to build the chip. M2 consists of 20 billion transistors which is 25% more than M1.

Memory controller delivers 100GB/sec of unified memory bandwidth which is 50% more than M1. M2 can support up to 24 GB of memory.

M2 delivers 18% greater multithreaded performance than M1 and for the peak performance M2 uses just a quarter of the power.

Compared with 10-core PC laptop chip, the CPU in M2 provides nearly twice the performance at the same power level.
